What does Interlochen Arts Academy have to offer?

In March 2026, Interlochen Arts Academy students will go on tour and perform alongside Yo-Yo Ma
Interlochen Arts Academy students will go on tour and perform alongside Yo-Yo Ma, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, The Philadelphia Orchestra, and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. Under the baton of Cristian Măcelaru, students will present a multidisciplinary program featuring a new cello concerto by jazz legend and composer Wynton Marsalis. The program features Reena Esmail’s RE|member and a reimagined Ives Symphony No. 4 showcasing all seven arts disciplines.

Areas of Focus

Receive thorough training in all basic musicianship skills. Preview advanced, college-level music theory; explore the creative process through composition of concert music; and gain performance experience.

Learn how to become a strong improviser, focus on etude and transcription study, take jazz history courses, learn from renowned guest musicians, and have jam sessions with friends.

Gain performance experience through choral ensembles and opera workshop productions. You’ll also participate in master classes and workshops with voice instructors from some of the nation's leading conservatories and institutions.

Hone your piano technique and skill in piano seminars, technology classes, one-on-one private lessons, and studio classes with peers.

Get hands-on learning opportunities for aspiring contemporary musicians, join choir, write and perform your own music, and find your unique voice.

Take a combination of production and recording courses, seminars, and labs. Create professional-level projects, and explore current practices and innovation in music.
